Today’s story begins, surprisingly, from a rural village.
At this village, there has always been a man of great strength.
The people referred to him as “the Strongman,” and he has acted as the pillar of the village’s traditions.

In today’s generation, that Strongman is called Kangsae.
And he is a man of great strength indeed, as you can see here.

But manual labor isn’t the only thing he’s good at.

He takes care of grieving widows, and other ladies that may need some… “help.”
And because of that, women who had nowhere to go began flocking to his village.

Kangsae’s physique would make any bodybuilder cry out of jealousy,
but he’s also quite clueless at times. He’s a big, harmless golden retriever who’s
often at a loss as to what to do – a classic himbo.
While he is… “for the people,” so to speak, there is one person
who really held a special place in Kangsae’s heart. That’s Okbun,
who has been his friend ever since they were kids.

While everyone in the village, including Kangsae,
accepts the tradition as an inevitable way of life, Okbun rejects it.

Unlike Kangsae, who’s happy to “help out” as long as
he gets some rice cakes afterwords, Okbun feels stifled in the village.
Okbun tries to get Kangsae to stop being the village’s “Strongman,”
Kangsae replies that things are just the way they are, and he has no choice.
Disappointed, Okbun gets up to leave, and says:
When Kangsae asks what she changed it to, this is her last word to Kangsae.

And the next day, Kangsae finds out that Okbun has ran away from the village,
leaving only a letter behind.

In her letter, she says she wants to live her own life,
and she wants him to live his life for himself as well… not just for others.
The story then jumps to Seoul, a few years later.
Here we meet Subin, a girl from the countryside who’s
trying her best to make it in Seoul.

She unfortunately works for this disgusting man who routinely sexually harasses
his subordinates and tries to pressure them into having sex with him.

When things really start getting dicey, Kangsae comes to save the day,
because he mistakenly thought that Subin was Okbun.

After finding out that Kangsae doesn’t have a place to stay,
Subin offers to let Kangsae crash at her place, where we meet…

Miho, Subin’s landlady. Miho is older, sensual, and experienced.
She’s a woman who knows what she wants, and she decides to let Kangsae stay…
if he gives her something in return. She also seems to know something about Okbun.
From here on, the story follows the double narrative of Subin dealing with her creepy boss
and Kangsae’s mission to find Okbun in Seoul.

1.
What makes this series special is that it's unexpectedly hilarious.
Many webtoons have great stories with spicy scenes, but Kangsae the Strong
takes things one step further – it will make you laugh.
2.
Another aspect that makes this series stand out is that Kangsae is a very charming character.
Yes, he’s tall, strong, and *ahem* well-endowed, but he’s also caring, well-meaning, and sweet.
Sure, he may be a little slow at times, but he makes up for it with his paradoxical innocence.
He’s quite different from the usual bad boy types we often see.
3.
It’s also a series that has a lot of meme potentials. Just take a look at these images:

Kangsae is a man of many faces,
and Kangsae the Strong is a series that is guaranteed to leave you satisfied
in more ways than one.
